Heartful Women raise funds for cataract surgery equipment at TMH

Quinte West, ON, March 17, 2025 – The Heartful Women’s Giving Circle raised just over $15,000 to fund three Ozil Handpieces for cataract surgeries at Trenton Memorial Hospital (TMH). With an average of 75 cataract surgeries performed weekly, these handpieces will play a crucial role in restoring vision for local patients.

What is the Heartful Women’s Giving Circle?
The Heartful Women’s Giving Circle is a community-driven group dedicated to enhancing healthcare at TMH. Its 39 members contribute $1 a day ($365 annually), pooling resources to fund vital hospital equipment. The group meets three times a year to review hospital priorities, vote on funding projects, and celebrate their collective impact.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the success of this year’s Heartful Women of TMH giving circle,” said Aleesha Camp – one of Heartful Women of TMH Founders and TMHF Board Chair. “With the support of such a dedicated group of women, we were able to raise over $15,000 for essential cataract surgery equipment at TMH. It’s truly inspiring to see the difference we can make when we come together for a common cause.”

Looking Ahead: Next Meeting on June 4, 2025
The next Heartful Women’s Giving Circle meeting will take place on June 4, 2025, where members will vote on the next piece of equipment to fund for TMH. The location is yet to be determined. New members are always welcome to join!
