TMHF Receives BTMCF Grant for Ophthalmology Department

The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation has proudly secured another generous grant from the Brian Todd Memorial Community Fund (BTMCF), continuing an impressive streak since 2014. This year, the $5,000 grant is earmarked specifically for the hospital’s Ophthalmology Department, reflecting the Foundation’s focus on acquiring advanced equipment for cataract surgery.

With over 36% of Brighton’s population being over 65, cataract surgery is a critical service. Cataracts, which cause hazy or blurry vision, often necessitate surgical removal when vision can no longer be corrected with prescription lenses. The busy Ophthalmology Department at Trenton Memorial Hospital continually requires updated and additional surgical equipment to meet the growing demand.

The BTMCF grant will facilitate the purchase of a new cataract tray, significantly enhancing the department’s capacity to serve patients.

This support underscores the ongoing commitment to improving healthcare services for the senior population of Brighton, ensuring that the Trenton Memorial Hospital can continue to provide top-notch care.
