The Donor Wall
The donor recognition policy is in place to honour all those individuals, corporations, service clubs, community organizations and philanthropic foundations who make monetary and/or gift in kind donations to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation. Memorial donations will recognize, with honour, the name of a loved one who has died.
The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation recognizes the following gifts to the Foundation:
- Gifts of Cash
- Gifts in kind (at fair market value)
- Life Insurance
The donor of a life insurance gift is recognized for the amount of the policy payments (where the policy has been placed in the name of the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation). Once the insurance policy is paid in full, the donor is recognized for the entire value of the life insurance. - Planned Gifts
Planned gifts are recognized for the value of the gift on the day that they are legally transferred to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation, providing the terms of the planned gift contract identify it as a non-revocable gift. - Bequests
Bequests are recognized at the time when they are received. Donors who wish to receive recognition for this type of donation are encouraged to establish a non-revocable planned gift. - Pledges
Pledges are only recognized for their annual payment amount. The total amount pledged is recognized in the year that the final payment is received.
All recognition is cumulative over the lifetime of the donor into the categories described below. The recognition system was established in 1992 to recognize gifts from the 1989 Building Fund campaign and forward.

The Donor Recognition Wall is constructed in such a way that donor names are removed from one category and placed in a different category as their contributions accumulate and they reach the next level.
Cumulative donations allow donors to move from category to category throughout their lifetime.
Donor recognition accumulated totals are recorded on an ongoing basis, with all updating and recognition done semi-annually. All donors to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation, including the Patron Level, will receive a personalized thank you letter with an income tax receipt, and will be placed on the Foundation's mailing list to receive News & Media and other public relations materials.
Donors at all levels will also have their names displayed in a large leather bound volume situated in the Foundation offices. All donors, from the Friend Category and up, will be recognized at their respective level on the donor wall. Donors of more than $100,000 may be offered the opportunity of having an area of the facility named in their honour (a named opportunity) at the discretion of, and with the approval of, the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors.
The Memorial Wall
A special section of the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation Donor Wall will be dedicated to the loving memory of family and friends for whom cumulative donations of $1000 are received. New names will be added to the wall twice yearly in the fall and in the spring. The Memorial Wall represents a unique opportunity to pay tribute to a loved one while contributing to the hospital in a meaningful way.
