The Quinte West Half Marathon!

The Quinte West Half Marathon held on Sunday April 25th 2010 was a great success. The event saw over 250 participants and the weather was perfect!

The City of Quinte West and The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation would like to thank our event sponsors. Smylie’s Independent Grocer for sponsoring the BBQ, Reilly’s Embroidery and Awards for donating participant medals, Nestles for donating water, Tri and Run Sports for donating supplies for the runners on the route, McDonalds for donating breakfast for the volunteers, Reids Dairy for donating chocolate milk for the participants, State Farm for the registration tent, HAI Precision Waterjets and Wilkinson’s and Company. We would also like to thank the Trenton Kinsmen Club for putting on the Pancake Breakfast.

“This was a great community event promoting healthy active living that many people in the community took part in”, says Mayor John Williams. “We would like to thank all participants, pledgers, sponsors, and volunteers for their generosity and contributions to the 2010 Quinte West Half Marathon Event. All funds raised will go to purchase state of the art equipment for QH-Trenton Memorial. We look forward to seeing you all again next year”, adds Wendys Warner, Executive Director of the THMF.

The top fundraisers of the day were Peter Smith from Koets Plumbing followed by Jamie Fellows. Total amount raised is $17,500 and counting. The winners of each event are as follows; Jutta Merilaine, half marathon run winner 1:23:26, James Moss, half marathon walk winner 2:59:29, The City of Quinte West Relay Team, Gary Dyke, Tim Osborne, John Gooding and Brian Jardine, relay winners 1:39:16, Carl MacDonad, 10km run winner 41:49, Monique Ibey 10km walk winner 1:28:37, Alex Burley 5km run winner 18:18 and Amy Dickens 5km walk winner 30:08.
